What do you guys do?
We are Curve! An up and coming Fin-tech app ready to change how you spend and earn for your business or personal day to day expenses. Your cards are kept in one place surrounded by bountiful features for the ultimate spending experience.- Ever wanted to prevent an embarrassing decline?- How about spending limits to avoid foreign exchange fees?- Perhaps you’d like to set smart rules that can trigger your cards to be spent how and when you want it, like a plane set to auto-pilot.- Maybe you just want some cheeky cashback? But enough about our Fin-tech crazed enthusiasm, I work with an exciting team here at Curve, the Growth and Product team! I am Zac Stephens, the Growth and Product lead at Curve and my team's role is to work on understanding our customer insights everyday, to make informed decisions on how we boost growth as well as introduce and improve current and new products and services. But the DeskLodge office is primarily focused on Customer Experience, we’ve got a wonderful team who are always focused on providing fantastic customer service to all of our customers no matter what the issue. We strive for the best and try to ensure that every customer is delighted when they contact us. We are also an eccentric bunch coming up with creative workflows and ideas for and with various departments across Curve.
What sort of growth have you had here at DeskLodge?
Desklodge has been our key office space in Bristol and what a great time it has been here at Desklodge! Whilst at Desklodge we’ve been able to grow in a magnitude of ways: Location, location, location…Set near a central location only a few minutes walk to the train station, DeskLodge is set in a quiet area in Redcliffe way. It has allowed us to connect more to our HQ office and their teams in London who have had easy access with transport to reach our Bristol office. This has made an impact on our growth by connecting and communicating faster and better than before, we have been able to create a culture of togetherness from two very different locations! What’s changed? When I first started here as an agent, we barely filled a small office that held 10 people, three rooms later and after spending time at a different building we’re back in DeskLodge on the fifth floor, and it’s a fight for the best desk. We’ve also grown a much more diverse team of people from all over the world and all different backgrounds, we aim to give everyone a fair opportunity to show their skills, and progress throughout the company.
How did the pandemic affect Curve?
Well we got ahead of the game, and were featured on BBC news for being one of the first companies to trial working from home, although it was tough for many of us, we managed to maintain our community spirit by having lots of different activities after work, like among us sessions which really helped us all get through lockdown! We also had a keen focus on mental well being with yoga sessions before work and we invested in training some of our teams to be mental health first aiders, so even when we were miles apart, the team felt close. We’ve also changed our working environment, we’ve gone from having everyone in the office five days a week, to a hybrid model which also caters to some remote workers.
What are your plans for the rest of 2022 and beyond?
I don’t spill secrets unless I’m being bought a fancy dinner but what I can tell you is that, we’re focusing on Growth, we’ve recently launched in the US and have an office already set up in Brooklyn, so we’re building up our teams overseas whilst creating exciting features on our home turf.
What’s been the best thing about working from DeskLodge?
As weird as it sounds the welcoming aura from all of the staff at DeskLodge, we always feel welcomed and are rewarded for being a part of DeskLodge, it may be from the good morning you always receive from reception, to the ice cream treat for free given to the entire team during the heatwave! You just always feel taken care of at DeskLodge. It also helps that we can bring our pets in to help the day go faster and the unlimited coffee too.
