August’s wonder worker is Sandra Thompson, Founder of EI Evolution. And it’s fair to say that she’s a bit of a busy bee. Lecturer, performance coach, customer experience consultant, and employee experience consultant… Find out how Sandra still manages a healthy work/life balance, and where you can find her for a month or so every year!
What do you/your company do?
I think I have what's called a 'portfolio career' (a) I lecture at business schools (b) I'm a business performance coach (c) A customer experience consultant - helping businesses improve the experience they deliver for their customers. (d) A employee experience consultant - helping businesses get great staff, empower and keep them.
What is the best thing about your job?
I can truly balance life (because I work for myself I have freedom) and I work with some wonderful people.
How do you stay motivated and productive?
With any client I think about the big picture - what will my work do for them. If a client is a charity, it's easier. I switch things up and try and get the 'boring things done' when I know I'll be quick to complete them.
Where is your favourite place to work at DeskLodge?
I have two favorites. One -the Margate hideout - being able to pop into that little space and power through! And, two - the beach hut room, it's a great conversation starter, the guys on zoom think I'm dialing in from the beach!
What's the most valuable piece of advice you've been given in work/business?
Listen to what's not being said as well as the obvious - then you're adding value.
What do you do in your spare time?
Love to travel and spend a couple of months a year overseas. Cuba, India, the US. I take my laptop incase I need to do some work, but it's chill time really. Popping to the West End in London is a treat for me - the latest show I saw was Ain't too Proud!
Describe DeskLodge in 3 words or fewer.
Charming, productive, possible.
