How are you doing?The past year has been one of the most unstable and unpredictable situations in nearly all of our lifetimes.A year on from lockdown one and we are still unsure what is around the corner, living week by week and feeling that making any plans for the near future is a battle in itself.

The first ever coworking space opened in San Francisco in 2005. Whilst working remotely, open source software consultant and journalist Brad Neuberg decided to create a community for other remote workers and freelancers, filling the social gap that a workspace usually provides. Brad named this concept, Coworking.

The last year has certainly been a period of great uncertainty for many which has seen companies having to adapt quickly to a global pandemic. For some, there is the option for a mix of office and home, whilst others are working solely from home or the office. All of this creates an element of separation as people learn to manage dispersed teams. With government guidelines changing regularly and often with short notice, companies are having to quickly change their way of working.

Whilst the mulled wine was warming on our traditional (albeit socially-distanced) pre-Christmas minced pie and mulled wine day, Mel, the Centre Manager at DeskLodge House, was able to grab Nathan, the Director of the Consortia Group, for a quick beer to have a chat about how their time with DeskLodge has been since they joined earlier in the year.

Will working from home help you attract new talent to your team? Are virtual interviews and meetings predominantly the new way forward for many of us? At DeskLodge we don't believe this is the most effective working solution full time and even part time.
