Revolutionise your Resolutions

We’ve all seen the lists of vague New Year’s Resolutions in business magazines, right? ‘Do more! Be More! Get More!’ It’s all well and good (and we could never be accused of being a less is more kind of place.) But without a tangible plan to make them a reality, resolutions tend to get abandoned faster than a packed lunch on Food Truck Day.

That’s why we’ve made you a plan, or more accurately, a challenge! We’ve found the 7 most popular New Year’s Resolutions for businesses and we’re going to show you how to tick them all off before January is over. By maximising all the opportunities, you didn’t know Desklodge had! ‘Lodgemaxing’ if you will!

Resolution 1: Be SMART

The experts agree that Business Management Goals should be:

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Relevant

Time-bound

Well, that one’s easy! We’re giving you a Specific, Achievable and Relevant plan, and it’s definitely time-bound because we’re only giving you 1 month to do it. The measure? That will be up to you. Do you want to measure by how you feel, what you learn, what you achieve, or something else?

Resolution 2: Invest in yourself / Invest in your team

Every ‘Resolutions for Business’s’ List seems to agree on one thing. Invest in your team. There’s no getting out of this one, even if your team is just you. Top of everyone’s list this year are reducing stress and burn out, improving work life balance and employee retention and recruitment.

Our Challenge? Commit to attending a social. ☑ Jan 23rd

A lot of you are regulars already. (We couldn’t keep some of you away if we tried!) But if you’re not, take the time to create some fun off-the-clock bonding for yourself and your team. Meet other professionals or make new friends, in a fun, casual setting.  Or enjoy food, drinks and games with your own team and take a moment to let them know you appreciate them.

Resolution 3: Stress Busting

You can’t pour from an empty cup. We’re not talking about refilling the milk in the coffee machine. Taking time to take care of yourself can be difficult in the working week. But it’s worth it if it gives you a boost to tackle the challenges ahead!

Our Challenge? Book a Monthly Massage or attend a Wednesday Workout ☑

Massages: Jan 8th Beacon Tower /Jan 15th Desklodge House.

Ever noticed a sudden rise in zen vibes around Desklodge? The Bristol Body Repair Clinic visit both Desklodge sites, once a month, to offer heavenly (and heavily discounted) massages.

Massages not your thing? Try the Weekly Wednesday Workout instead. Just £5 - use your lunch break to get those endorphins flowing.

Resolution 3: Invest in your Clients

Client relationships are so important, proactively investing in customer loyalty and checking in with your, biggest clients can take a lot of stress and guesswork out of the upcoming year. (Speaking of, how are you guys doing? Are you good? You can tell me.)

Our Challenge? Use the Desklodge Discounts Page to treat a current or potential client. ☑

Take a local client out for a meal or a cocktail with up 25%of food and drink at a huge range of bars and restaurants in Bristol. Or send a client a branded giftbox with 20% off at Truffleshuffle.

While you’re at it, maybe check back in with Resolution 3 and take your team, or new friends from the Desklodge Social, down to Flight Club for 25% off Social Darts, food and drinks!

Resolution 4: Find a mentor / Become a mentor

No matter where you’re at in your business journey, both sides of the mentor/mentee relationship have huge benefits. Learn from someone in your industry, receive guidance and advice from someone who’s seen it all before. Or pay it forward, start to establish yourself as an expert in your field and be known as an active member of the industry.

Our challenge: Attend a Bristol Growth Network: Latte Networking event. ☑  Jan 9th

This hugely popular networking event is held at Desklodge House once a month. Usually £20 a ticket, it’s completely free for Desklodge members to try and it’s on your home turf! So, why not put yourself out there. Latte Networking has a great mix of newcomers and business veterans for whichever stage you’re at.

Resolution 5: Invest in being seen

You need people to know you, and people to get you! If you’re not hitting the right people with the right message, then you could be wasting your time and money on marketing. What was it Miss. Simone said?  Please let me be misunderstood.

Our Challenge? Attend the Rules of Engagement marketing meetup ☑

This widely respected marketing meetup is open to all but only free to Desklodgers (discount code ROEfree). Lucky you! With educational talks, industry experts and free pizza! Januarys talks cover videos on a budget and website relaunch lessons.

Bonus: If you are ready to take that next step, Desklodgers get 30% off advertising in Bristol Life Magazine!

Resolution 6: Manage Your Cashflow more effectively.

It’s a challenging economic climate, and there’s plenty of new challenges for businesses to navigate. Keeping your eye on the money is important. This year is all about being proactive.

Our Challenge? Attend the Lunch and Learn with Aila Money. ☑

The Lunch and Learns are a great place to get expert advice on all sorts of topics. January’s is with the finance experts Aila.  Aila combines behavioural science, the right data and financial experts to help you achieve your money goals. Plus, there’s free pizza!

Bonus: Check out our friends at Loqbox for help building your credit profile with a 20% Desklodge Discount.

Resolution 6: Business Sustainability

Our Challenge: Spend a week in the office and try and cycle or use public transport.

There are so many reasons coming to Desklodge can help you be more sustainable. Your workspace is a BCorp for a reason! Use a lot of energy at home? Turn of the power at home and use communal space. Even better, try and bike in for the week or make use of the proximity to the station/central bus routes and take public transport. Why not make it a team challenge! Burn through a lot of paper printing?  Get setup on our printer - we use 100% recycled paper from a local, sustainable BCorp, carbon neutral paper company. Phew, that’s a lot of good words!

Resolution 7: Continuous Improvement or Kaizen.

The Japanese concept of Kaizen is the foundation of most successful businesses. Put simply it means, constantly innovating and levelling up. That doesn’t have to be scary, it can be big changes. Or simply staying engaged and exited and open to new ideas.

Our Challenge? Do it again next month. Hey, if January worked for you, there’s always a masterclass, social, pop up, or work out happening at Desklodge. Lodgemax your life and watch your business thrive.
