This member is such a DeskLodge institution, the team dubbed him the Mayor of DeskLodge. He’s been with us since the beginning, and he even programmed the gates you tap in on! (Please direct all autograph requests to his publicist.) Read about how Software Engineering has taken Richard all over the world, and why he still calls DeskLodge home.
I chose my role and industry quite by accident. In my spare time, I got interested in an Open Source project called Twisted and eventually became a contributor. Then, in 2014, one of the project founders asked me to join them at a startup in Bristol. Since then, I've been working with Docker and Kubernetes and haven't looked back.
One of the most surprising parts of my job is the travel I've done. I've attended conferences and visited customers around Europe, the USA, and Australia. I even spent six months in San Francisco, helping to establish a team there. It's been an incredible adventure!
I intend to stay in software engineering and continue learning new technologies. I love learning new programming languages, and Rust or Haskell are next on my list.
DeskLodge is a tremendous help in doing my job. Working from home can be lonely and depressing, and DeskLodge provides a vibrant and friendly environment. I look forward to coming to DeskLodge and meeting all my friends here.
I primarily work at DeskLodge four days a week as a hotdesker. My colleagues all work remotely, but we sometimes book a meeting room at DeskLodge for face-to-face meetings.
It would have to be "Bristol's Best HotDesking."
