Best bars for alcohol-free drinks in Bristol

Whether you're taking a break from booze, or you’ve given it the boot completely, you’re probably more aware than ever of alcohol-free drinks. The world of non-and low-alcohol drinks has exploded over recent years, with ranges of tasty beverages that, if blindfolded, you probably couldn’t tell they were booze-free.

Of course, going alcohol-free doesn’t mean going fun-free! We’ve put together a list of Bristol’s coolest bars, pubs and breweries that are especially good when it comes to their alcohol-free tipples.

Wiper and True

As spring comes knocking and the sun comes shining, it’s time to seek out the best beer gardens! Wiper and True in Old Market offers a beautiful plant-filled space, full of character. And new for 2024, they’ve released 0.5% pale ale Kaleidoscope, the second in their range of low alcohol beers, which also includes 0.5% lager Tomorrow.

 The Wellhead

If you’re looking for a cosy cocktail look and feel, then The Wellhead fits the bill. This stunning bar overlooking the river in Finzels Reach has a dedicated section of its menu for no and low alcohol drinks. Take your pick from the Zobo Iced Tea (Hibiscus, black tea, pineapple, ginger cordial and bitters), Placebo Paloma (Caleño Light & Zesty, pink grapefruit, salt, lime, soda) or a Bloody Shame (Big Tom spiced tomato, Henderson’s relish, Tabasco, lemon). We’ll drink to that!

Butcombe Brewing Co.

This brewery, based just outside Bristol, has a scattering of super pubs in and around Bristol including The Ostrich, The Cottage, The Langford Inn and The Whitmore Tap. If you’re passing then make sure you pop in and check out their delicious alcohol-free beer, Goram Zero. This refreshing ale has all the aroma, taste and flavour of a normal IPA but with none of the alcohol it’s the perfect beer for those looking for anon-alcoholic drink.

 The Strawberry Thief

Few bars are cooler than The Strawberry Thief! Take a trip around the world at this multi award-winning independent beer bar in Bristol's old city. Inspired by continental style bars, The Strawberry Thief stocks a good selection of low and no alcohol beers, along with over seventy of the most famous and revered Belgian and UK craft beers and ciders for your mates who drink. No one feels left out!

Bristol Beer Factory

Order a Bristol Beer Factory’s Clear Head low alcohol IPA, and it’ll give you more than a clear head in the morning. You’ll also feel a heart full of happiness too! That’s because 5% of profits from this beer go to Talk Club, a Bristol-born organisation building an empowering mental health community for men. This tasty 0.5% IPA is stocked at pubs and shops across the city, or you enjoy it at Bristol Beer Factory's own brewery tap room on North Street, or their bar Junction in Wapping Wharf.

 The Ivy Clifton Brasserie

Got a special occasion coming up? Or you just fancy going a bit posh? There’s a whole selection of classy mocktails waiting for you at The Ivy Clifton Brasserie. You’ll feel like The Great Gatsby as you lounge in the Art Deco interior, sipping a Forest Picante with Everleaf Forest, honey and a dash of chilli bitters, topped with tonic water. Or try a Pink Petal Elixir Everleaf Mountain, with cherry blossom and grape juice, crowned with cotton candy. Lovely.
