DeskLodger of the month - Basingstoke

Meet Carl Whitewood – A DeskLodge resident from 99 Boat

The deck of a superyacht is the dream setting for many business meetings, but for Carl Whitewood, co-founder of 99Boat, it was a reality. As a yacht broker, he often found himself stepping aboard multimillion pound yachts in places like St Tropez, and Monaco, although admits that he became immune to it. Carl came up with the concept for 99Boat whilst in the middle of selling an 87ft motor yacht for a client.

What does your business do?

We are proud to be an online & fixed price boat selling portal.

How long have you been doing it?

I started to create the idea and business about 12 months ago, so it has been going on for about a year now and I hope many more to come.

How long have you been at Desklodge?

I started with DeskLodge in October 2018, so it has been around 5 months now.

What’s your favourite thing about your job?

I really enjoy the diversity you are met with everyday of the job. The scenarios and the people are very different and its being able to set your own goals.

What’s your favourite thing about Desklodge?

Within DeskLodge I find that the support given is a big plus. I also think that the community is great and can serve as a good tool towards working - I love feeling like a part of DeskLodge.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

When I’m not busy working you will definitely find me sailing on the Solent which is probably one of the busiest and most famous sailing areas in the world.
